More friendly than an hotel, L’Ormet Bed and Breakfast is an ideal starting point for walks and hikes in the contryside (you can plan your route from maps available at L’Ormet). The village of Valignat with its small 11th century church and surprising agricultural museum, is only 15 minutes away by foot as is the village of Veauce with its medieval castle, its beautiful roman church in the Occitan style and the surrounding forest. The ancient village of Charroux, with its picturesque cobbled streets, is 12 km away and the Sioule river gorge starts just outside Ebreuil , 7 km away. At Chantelle (15 km), under the old abbey, the mysterious Bouble River gorge, cool and refreshes even in mid-summer. Vichy, the famous spa town, with its racecourse, is only a 35 minute drive away; the old town centre of Clermont-Ferrand built from volcanic stone and the famous chain of volcanoes —including the Puy de Dôme are less than an hour by car. And this is just a sample of the region's ! So, we hope to see you very soon. You will fall in love with the area and come back again and again. |
| The Rooms We have four rooms on the first and second floors of a manor house (18th century) set in a wooded park with flower beds. Within the grounds are three small garden railways (3 1/2”, 7 1/4” and 60 cm gauge). La chambre Champêtre : double bed (160x200xcm), private bathroom with shower and toilet. Second floor. Price for 2 people (including breakfast) 79 € La chambre Romantique : double bed (160x200xcm), private bathroom with bath and toilet. Second floor. Price for 2 people (including breakfast) 85 € La chambre Renaissance : large room some 30m2, twin beds (90x190 cm), private bathroom with shower and toilet. Price for 2 people (including breakfast) 95 € La chambre des Cartes (the Map room) Large and sunny room on the first floor. Double bed (160x200 cm), private bathroom with bath and toilet. Price for 2 people (including breakfast) 95 € Prices are for 2011. 10% less from the second night (third night in July and August). Access by A71 motorway
Leave A71 at junction 12 (Ebreuil, Gannat, Gorges de la Sioule), follow signs to Ebreuil then Vicq, straight on towards Valignat, Bellenaves, then at the top of the hill, before the village of Valignat, turn left on RD183 (sign to Coutansouze) L'Ormet is 1,500 m on the right. Access from Gannat Follow signs to Ebreuil, then as above. Access from St Pourçain Follow signs to Chantelle then Bellenaves then Ebreuil via St Bonnet de Tizon. Over the level crossing and after the road to the village of Valignat, at the very top of the hill turn right on RD183. L'Ormet is 1,500 m on the right. |
